7 Kansas City Fall Favorites

Whether you’re a seasoned Kansas Citian or new to the city, fall is an exciting time to spend in the metro area. Whether you enjoy festivals, scares, or exotic animals, you’ll be able to find an exciting fall-themed event to enjoy! Continue on to our top 7 Kansas City Fall favorites:

1. Louisburg Cider Mill

Louisburg Cider Mill, about an hour outside of Kansas City, is open for festivities all-year round in their unique Country Store. However, the true fun of the cider mill is in the fall when they have Ciderfest, a Corn Maze, and a Pumpkin Patch. During Ciderfest you can expect to enjoy live music, craft booths, and good people. Stop by and enjoy a cup of cider, one of their famous cider donuts, or their Lost Trail Root Beer. Trust us, it’s worth the trip.

2. Weston Applefest & Irishfest

About 40 minutes outside of Kansas City, Weston is known year-round for its multiple vineyards and wineries, making it an ideal place for a summer day trip. During the fall, it offers back to back weekends of fun with the Weston Applefest and Weston Irishfest! At Applefest you can enjoy the Saturday morning hometown parade, watch craftsmen create their traditional art, and devour apple-themed dishes all over town.

Come back the next weekend to enjoy Irishfest at O’Malleys Pub and the American Bowman Restaurant. Featuring some of the best acts in Irish music, Irishfest grows more exciting every year! Come for the music, stay for the good time.

3. Kansas City Renaissance Festival

Offering a variety of themed weekends throughout the fall, Kansas City Renaissance Festival has been a highlight of Fall festivities in Kansas City for over 40 years. Here you can find vendors offering all sorts of goods that will tickle your fancy. Looking to buy chainmail? You’re sure to find it at one of the multitudes of booths at the fair!

4. WaterFire Kansas City

WaterFire, hosted by KC Creates, is a festival that celebrates all things art. From dance and aerial artists, Quixotic, to the visual art of StoneLion Puppet Theatre, there is sure to be something to inspire all ages! Make sure you leave plenty of time for parking and walking to the event before the 7:00 PM start time!

5. Haunted Houses

For the thrill seekers in the city, your best bet to find a scare is the Kansas City Haunted Houses in the West Bottoms. Take a walk to the Edge of Hell, confront the werewolves at The Beast, or relive the Hollywood frights at the Macabre Cinema. Don’t let the ghosts get you on your way out!

6. KC Oktoberfest

Presented by KC Bier Co., Kansas City’s own Oktoberfest celebrates the traditional German festival with a Kansas City twist. Oktoberfest offers a variety of German-inspired beers, foods and festival fun!

7. Boo at the Zoo

The Kansas City Zoo presents Boo at the Zoo at the end of October every year. A family-friendly fall activity, your little ones will enjoy getting to trick-or-treat throughout the zoo while enjoying their favorite animals! The animals even get to partake in the celebration with pumpkin smashings throughout the day!
