Where is the best holiday shopping in Johnson County?

Johnson County offers some of the best shopping in the entire Kansas City metro area. Numerous malls and shopping districts are scattered around the county, with amazing options for any style or budget.

Town Center Plaza

Located in Leawood on 119th St. between Roe & Nall, this open-air shopping district is home to over 90 retail stores and restaurants. Just a sample of the stores you can find here include Restoration Hardware, Madewell, Athleta, Anthropologie, Williams-Sonoma, and Barnes & Noble.

When to go

The sooner, the better! The closer we get to the holidays, the busier Town Center Plaza will be. Note: Town Center is an outdoor mall, so the weather may be a factor in deciding when to go!

Town Center Plaza’s main property is open Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 9 pm and Sunday from 12 pm to 5 pm. Be sure to check the specific store website you want to visit, however, as they may have extended holiday hours!

Who to shop for

There’s something for everyone at Town Center Plaza. Go to Brighton Collectibles, Anthropologie, or Yankee Candle for gifts for mom. After you’ve found the perfect item, shop for dad at Dick’s Sporting Goods or Brooks Brothers.

If you’re shopping for kids, we suggest GameStop, GapKids, and Janie and Jack.

Oak Park Mall

This classic two-level indoor shopping mall has plenty of shopping, dining, and activities for the entire family. There are everyone’s favorite department stores like Nordstrom, Macy’s, and Dillards, plus trendy boutiques, stores for kids, and more!

When to go

If you want to avoid traffic and long lines, we suggest getting your holiday shopping in at Oak Park Mall in early November.

The mall is open from 10 am to 9 pm Monday through Saturday and from 11 am to 6 pm Sundays. Find special holiday hours here.

Who to shop for

At Oak Park Mall, you can pick up Royals & Chiefs gear for your sports-loving best friend at Champs or bath bombs & skincare for the beauty lover in your life at Lush.

The KC Holiday Boutique

This shopping bonanza is held each year at the Overland Park Convention Center. For four days, this massive convention center is transformed into a holiday wonderland, featuring custom and handmade artisanal gifts, holiday entertainment, and even a Girl’s Night Out with drinks, music, and door prizes.

When to go

The KC Holiday Boutique is open from November 17 to 20, 2022. Hours are Thursday through Saturday 10 am to 9 pm, and 10 am to 5pm Sunday.

Adults must purchase tickets for the event, though children 12 and under can be admitted without a ticket.

Who to shop for

Local shops, boutiques, and craftspeople set up booths at the event which feature unique, one-of-a-kind gifts. The KC Holiday Boutique is a great place to go for anyone in your life that may be more difficult to shop for.
