This is one of Kansas City’s coveted historic buildings built in 1902-1903 that were restored in 2017. The Colonnades consists of four self-sufficient buildings and 34 apartments in total overlooking Armour Blvd. Walking up to The Colonnades, you will see mature trees lining the street. This provides a shaded grass area leading up to the front porches supported by beautiful white columns of each building. As you approach, you will notice the historic detail preserved, but entering each apartment will give you a sense of modern living. The kitchens feature large marble-like quartz eating bars, pendant lighting, stainless appliances. The wood floors(basement units have matching plank flooring) were restored and the historic windows remain intact, providing a ton of natural light in each unit. These homes are pet friendly, Google Fiber ready, and have washer and dryer in-unit. Paradise Flats is a playful combination of Classic Revival historicism and contemporary finishes. Original Neoclassical details, as well as some charismatic interior elements have been preserved and restored, while new high-end finishes such as maple cabinetry, quartz counter tops and stainless steel appliances and dining room chandeliers have been added. Massive ionic columns frame comfortable front porches that overlook the park and the surrounding historic buildings.

Renovated in 2014, the original details of the historic 1922 façade were restored, the residences were completely updated, and modern elements of design were integrated into exterior and interior alike.

Arc on Armour is an apartment residence located on Armour Boulevard in Kansas City. This conversion of a classic Mid-Century office building to rental homes started in July of 2019 finished in the fall of 2020. The distinct, modern units retain some unique characteristics of the original architecture. In Arc on Armour’s case, the distinguishing arches in the front were largely infilled with brick but now consist of reflective glass, giving each home full-height and full-width windows. Other original elements like the lobby’s terrazzo, the exposed concrete ceilings, and the masonry planters flanking the entrance, were retained and restored to further convey the character of the original architecture. With only 62 apartments, residents enjoy the amenities of a huge apartment development with a small community feel. The natural-toned light wood cabinets, open shelving, black marbleized quartz, and black accents paired with light laminate wood flooring and high exposed concrete ceilings all give a sense of openness with a side of stylish, modern vibes.
